It starts out seeming like all the others just a story about some people but what's unusual is that the mustached man occasionally glances directly into the camera at the viewer. The Mortal Remains: Well, that turned bleak quickly. The Gal Who Got Rattled: Oh fuck off! seriously?! It was shaping up to be such a tragically beautiful story that ultimately had a happy ending and then this?! Where did they first team up? Were they good friends once or was Impresario always just after the money from the start? Harry Melling's performance was amazing, especially when he realized what was about to happen.Īll Gold Canyon: Stunning scenery and great performance by Tom Waits. Meal Ticket: Damn! I'm still thinking about that chapter. I wonder if Stephen Root got the job due to him playing Milton in Office Space. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs: Tim Blake Nelson as Buster Scruggs was fantastic. Since it is told through different chapters, i'll just say somethign about each one of them. Robber: "I don't want any of 'em to have it." Leader: "You want to give one of these boys your horse? Save scrappin' over it after you pass?" Robber: "That pan covered sumbitch back at the bank don't hardly fight fair, in my opinion." Now this here is your opportunity to speak your peace before the sentence is carried out." These peers convicted you, I passed a sentence of death and we found us this tree. Now, you was off your nut feverish for most of the goings-on but it was a fair trial like we do here in New Mexico. Leader: "Son, we just held some proceedings here for attempted bank robbery. Group leader: "Do you have anything to say before your sentence is carried out?"īank Robber: "Sentence? What's my sentence?" The whole exchange when he first wakes up was so wonderful and my favorite bit of dialogue from the movie for some reason. Finally, ghostly laughs haunt The Mortal Remains as a Lady rains judgment upon a motley crew of strangers undertaking a final carriage ride. All Gold Canyonis a story about a prospector mining for gold, while a woman finds an unexpected promise of love, along with a dose of life’s cruel irony, on a wagon train across the prairies in The Gal Who Got Rattled. Meal Ticket is a gothic tale about two weary travelling performers. In Near Algodones, a wannabe bank robber gets his due and then some. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs tells the story of a sharp-shooting songster. Six chapters each present a different story from the wild frontier.
